Your child is seeing ghosts, spirits, or mentioning things or people who aren’t there according to your five senses. What should you do?
Well, Julie’s experience with this is a little different than most parents. Cycle back to one morning when her twelve-year-old yelled out from the living room.
“MOM! I’M SEEING GHOSTS AGAIN!”
Julie: “Are you okay?”
“YEAH. I’M SCARED.”
Julie: “Oh, that’s just Paul. My friend, Christine, recently lost her friend, Paul. He passed away a couple of days ago and he’s giving me messages for her. Is he wearing flip flops?”
“NO MOM. I saw a shadow run inhumanly fast outside the patio door.”
Julie: “Oh. Did it look at you or stop?”
“No. It went by super-fast.”
Julie: “Did it have on flip flops?”
“No. It had bare feet.” Julie’s kid still had his face in his hands.
Julie: “Remember everything we learned about different dimensions from the physics video and also that some people can see them? And remember that all the dimensions are very close to each other, including ours?”
“Oh yeah.” He calmed a bit.
Julie: “Just say out loud you don’t want to see and if a spirit guide of yours can intervene, they will.”
He was back doing his schoolwork 10 minutes later because this was not the first time he’d seen another dimension. And of course, even though, Julie doesn’t see the way her son does, she’s tuned in to the unseen world, so for her this was able to be handled in a physics lesson the first time it happened and then follow up Q&A sessions like on this day.
But most parents aren’t accustomed to feeling, seeing, or hearing things that are part of the unseen world, so what can you do?
Tips: What To Do if Your Child is Seeing Ghosts or Talking to Spirits
1: Ask questions.
No matter their age, talk to your child and ask what they’re seeing or hearing, especially if they tell you they’re scared.
Educate yourself and your child about different dimensional realities.
I’m not talking about watching a science fiction movie. Review The Elegant Universe video, by Brian Greene. It talks about dimensions in a way that can be easily understood by most kids and their non physicist parents.
2: Believe or Put Your Doubts on Hold
If you don’t believe in the unseen world, put your doubts aside to help your child feel safe and secure.
If this is new territory, I get it. It can feel overwhelming. Young kids who are seeing spirits usually aren’t making it up.
A make-believe friend could even be a loving family member. Unless your child is blaming negative behavior on an unseen source or they repeat negative messages, it may just be grandma checking in as a protector.
3: Give Yourself a Break
I’ll say it. When your kid comes to you for the first time and says, “I see grandpa or I see shadow people”, it’s okay to not deal with it if you just can’t deal with it at that moment in time. Unless of course, your child is frightened and feels unsafe.
Life is full of stuff you have to deal with already. Get a good night’s sleep and ask questions in the morning.
4: Marvel at the Magnificence of Soul to Soul Communication
Keep in mind, the spirit may not be there to visit your child. They may be visiting you, and your child just happens to be able to be the one who can give you the message.
Once you get a name you can understand, you’ll know more. If you’re getting a non-human name or one you don’t recognize and there is kinetic activity (stuff moving on its own), call in reinforcements in the form of a medium who can do an onsite home visit to get more details. Also, put what you see in the movies aside and realize that is an amplified money making reality.
5: Stay in Love & Light Mode
If you’re dealing with something that feels negative to your child, don’t encourage your child or any family member to engage.
Or, it may simply be a spirit that needs to move on. In which case, you can tell them they have passed away and that it’s time to move on to the other side. Just say it out loud and go on about your life.
Do this a couple more times if they still have not moved on after a couple of days, then consider hiring a medium who comes with strong references to do a home visit to talk to the spirit and have them move along.
I wouldn’t use someone long distance for this. I, personally, do not do home visits and remember most of the time, you can move along a spirit on your own.
Intuitive Skills in Kids Need Nurturing
I wrote this article is for all the parents out there who care about their kids, but are also weirded out for whatever reason and would usually dismiss it as something their kids will grow out of. It’s okay. This is common.
But consider this, if your child showed talent or special skills in sports, art, science, or another subject, your approach may be to nurture that talent.
Being in touch with the unseen world is no different than any of those other talents. Ignoring or suppressing these skills can do a lot of damage.
Your child may go on to work in a field where they need extra sensory talents. A lot of doctors and nurses have intuitive skills, as do most creative people and high ranking military personnel like Navy SEALS.
Intuitive skills in children are a gift that you’ll learn to live with and deeply appreciate. Imagine a world where extra senses are developed and valued… This is where our world is headed for sure.
